Amy's Bio and Research Description: Amy Benitez earned her B.S. in Technical Systems Management (2010) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and is currently a second year M.S. student in Environmental Engineering, also at UIUC. Prior to pursuing a Master's degree, Amy's diverse background included experience in agricultural, building, and environmental sciences, with an interest in sustainable design and practices. Her current research focuses on green infrastructure and the need for quantitative environmental, economic, and social impact data of these systems. She is characterizing the relative sustainability of a green infrastructure site in Chicago's storm water system. Amy also aided in the development of a life cycle assessment (LCA) tool for the Illinois Tollway to be used as a decision-making tool for drainage system design.
