Research Project: Selecting for Target Functions in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

Research Description: Ian is currently working on selecting target storage products in the model green alga, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, through process design.  Also of interest is how these storage products influence downstream removal and processing of algal biofuels, and how algal growth may be coupled with wastewater treatment to create a more cost effective feedstock.  Ian's past research includes biological treatment and virus removal in drinking water with the use of Iron-Amended Biosand Filters.
