Research Project: Photochemical Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) by Algal Organic Matter (AOM) in Bioenergy Cultivation Systems.
Co-advised by: Professor Timothy Strathmann

Raul's Bio and Research Description: Raul received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, he was involved in undergraduate research projects including: the ozonation of pharmaceutically active compounds & the synthesis of silver nanoparticles used on ceramic pot filters for disinfection.

Raul joined the Guest Research Group summer 2013 co-advised by Professor Strathmann to pursue his master’s degree and plans to continue on to the PhD.  His research focuses on quantifying steady state concentrations of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in photobioreactors for  potential oxidation of harmful organic pollutants.  In his spare time Raul enjoys watching movies, cooking, and drinking coffee.
